Gaza City: The current security situation in Gaza and the West Bank has witnessed the killing of seven Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank. Israeli special units have killed four Palestinians militants from Islamic Jihad in north of Gaza early morning ,Tuesday, 30/5, and three militants from Al Aqsa Brigades in north of West Bank. Reports have talked about civilians causalities as injures.
Inside Gaza, the situation has remained calm. The streets are actually peaceful. Security forces are seen everywhere along side with the special unit members. However, members of the special unit forces are not deployed in areas considered highly sensitive in order to avoid unnecessary friction. Such areas are like the presidentional residence of Abu Mazen in Gaza City, the Preventive Security HDQs in the south of the city and near the PLC Building in west of Gaza City. Other than that, one can see the special unit, deployed on orders of Interior Ministry, in many parts in the Gaza Strip. In many areas, members of special unit and presdietional national guards can be seen talking with each other.

Salaries:
Prime Minister Haniya has confirmed to media sources yesterday, 30/5, that 40,000 government employees will receive a month salary in the next couple of days. He said that those 40,000 employees are the ones whom their salary is less than 1500 shekels ($330). As for the rest of government employees whom their salary is above 15,000, the prime minister said that the government would pay only 1500 shekels on loan. There are more than 165,000 government employees working for the PNA.
Palestinians have not received their salaries since the beginning of last March. International embargo has blocked the transfer of money and cash to the Palestinians. Israel has been withholding Palestinian tax money in the hundreds of millions of dollars belonging to the Palestinians. In addition, reports have revealed that money collected from Arab and Islamic countries are still on hold and cannot enter Palestinian territories due to the international siege lead by the United States.
Interview with the Prime Minister:
The Prime Minister Haniya has announced yesterday, 30/5, in an interview with a German News Agency, that his government is ready for a long term truce with Israel on conditions that Israel withdraw from the 1967 borders , including Jerusalem, and release of all Palestinian Prisoners. The prime minister said, as reported in the media, that this shall be a real long truce and a real opportunity for calm and stability in the region.
Palestinian Foreign Minister in China:
Dr. Zahar, the new Palestinian foreign minister, is in China today, 31/5, to meet with the Chinese Foreign Minister and to attend the China – Arab annual Forum, according to front-page news in Al Quds newspaper. This visit comes as the first one by the Palestinian foreign minister to a county, which is one of the five permanent members of the Security Council. The Chinese Foreign Minister announced that this visit is about creating better chances of peace in the region.
In a day before, Dr. Zahar met with Malaysian Prime Minister, Mr. Abdullah Badawi, in Kuala-Lumpur on May 29, according to an official statement by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry. The Malaysian Prime Minister congratulated the Palestinian prime minister and extended an invitation to him to visit Malaysia in the near future. Mr. Badawi stressed the important of supporting the Palestinian people at this critical time, according to Palestinian media sources.
Rafah Border Crossing:
It has been announced lately that Rafah crossing has increased the operating hours. In the past, the crossing was operating until 5:00 PM everyday.
